THE friends of a fun-loving man who lost his battle with cancer hope a charity football match in his honour will raise funds for other sufferers.

Adam Done of St Peter’s, Worcester, died aged 25 in December, 2005 but his friends hope a charity football match on Saturday will help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support so others like him have the vital help they need.

We reported in your Worcester News last year how Adam’s wide circle of friends and family, including dad Phil, wife Amy and son George, now two, helped to create the inaugural competition in his honour last August which raised £3,000 for the charity.

One of Adam’s close friends, James Walker, aged 31, of Barbourne, Worcester said: “Adam may no longer be with us but he is certainly not forgotten.

“I am sure that he would be proud to support Macmillan in any way he could.”

Last year Adam’s dad described him as “brave and considerate” and a “Jack the lad” who squeezed a lot of living into his 25 years.

Adam married Amy at the Priory Hospital in Birmingham shortly before he died and their son George bears has a striking resemblance to his father.

The match between the Adam Done XI and Alma Tavern team begins at Nunnery Wood Sports Ground in Worcester at 1pm.

A charity fun night will then be held at the Alma Tavern, Droitwich Road, Worcester, between 6pm and 11pm the same day.

The evening will include a pig roast at 7pm and singing from Jules Benjamin from 8pm followed by a raffle at 10pm.

The Alma Tavern have kindly offered to sponsor the pig roast. The Royal Bank of Scotland will once again be providing sponsorship. People can donate via justgiving.com/AdamDoneXI.
