TWO new faces who have jumped aboard Worcester’s children’s bereavement charity, the Noah’s Ark Trust, are gearing up for an exciting challenge.

The charity is currently getting ready for its second ever Run to Remember event, which will be held next month at the Worcester Countryside Centre, and the pair are working hard to help it along.

Stuart Potter is the new community fund-raiser for Worcestershire and is already putting his skills as an engineer to good use.

Mr Potter was involved with the trust as a volunteer for three-and-a-half years before he took on his new role. “It could be seen as being a million miles away from what I used to do but the skills side of it is basically the same.

“You have to sell what you are doing, so now I have to sell the charity, which is such a worthwhile cause.”

For Mr Potter, the Run to Remember will be the first major event he is helping to organise for the charity, and he is looking forward to the challenge. “What we are really looking for is to attract a lot more families to sign up to the day.

“Some people like to go there anyway for a walk and so this will be an added attraction for them to enjoy.”

Also new to the Trust is Ross Cormack, bereavement services co-ordinator for Wychavon. Mr Cormack was a volunteer for two years and went on a number of the residential weekends held in Malvern, before taking up the post. “I am so passionate about Noah’s Ark and their work. What the charity do is really important for young people and their families in Worcestershire,” he said.

The Run to Remember event, held at the Wildwood Drive site on Sunday, September 21, has been split into three sections – a 10km run, 5km run and a 1km family fun run – so entrants can pick the distance they feel most comfortable with.

Last year, the event attracted more than 400 entrants and raised almost £4,000 for the charity, which helps bereaved children and their families.
