A COMMUNITY is getting together to help their estate get fit on Friday.

Worcester Community Housing (WCH) is encouraging people in Ronkswood to step up to the mark and tell them what they really think about living on the estate.

To help, the housing association is set to host a unique prize-packed event called Let’s Get Fit between 11am and 3pm at the community centre, off Canterbury Road.

Customer services and involvement manager Di Smith said: “The event gives Ronkswood residents the chance to get up close and personal with WCH staff, local councillors, as well as the local police.

“With the help of a large scale estate map they will be urged to point out local spots in need of some attention and make some suggestions about possible changes.

“We will make sure that the suggestions made are included in our plans to improve life in Ronkswood.”

The event will also feature Worcester City Council recycling team, wildlife displays with Bryan Patterson, Hereford and Worcester Fire Service, the local policing team, a recycled art workshop and a bouncy castle The event will also offer lots of prize-winning opportunities with a Name the Worcester Community Housing Ted competition as well as colouring and recycled art contests.

Plus, in a bid to make sure the views of youngsters are taken into account, WCH will be hosting a chat-a-tak session. This youth forum encourages young people to make suggestions about how they would improve local life.

To encourage them to have their say WCH are offering top prizes for the best two suggestions – one from a girl, one from a boy.

Each will win the latest Nintendo DS games console.

The event also has the support of local retailers who have donated some great prizes to help encourage more youngsters to come along.

McDonald’s, the Entertainer Toy Shop, Woolworths and partner contractors Connaughts and PH Jones have all offered their support.
