A WELL-known Malvern sculptor is exhibiting a specially-commissed piece at a major Midlands art fair.
Caro Sweet has created a portrait of ITV Central News anchor Bob Warman for the Birmingham Art Fair, opening today.
Ms Sweet, who has a workshop in Bransford, near Worcester, spent a fortnight visiting the Central News offices to work on the clay head, which has now been cast in bronze.
“Bob has been great to work with and very generous with his time,” said Ms Sweet. “I always work from life rather than photographs as it enables me to get to know the person and capture their uniqueness in the sculpture.
“Although Bob had to deal with his car being washed away in the recent floods, he really went the extra mile to get to the studio for his portrait sittings. I want him to be really delighted with the result.”
The sculpture was presented to Mr Warman at the art fair’s preview last night and will be on show throughout the Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery fair, which runs until Sunday.
