COLLEGE lecturers who cooked up a feast to raise money for a Worcester charity have been thanked for their efforts.

Staff at Worcester College of Technology took over the Spire Restaurant kitchen this summer to create a six-course meal.

The evening was the idea of restaurant trainer Lisa Leigh and kitchen supervisor Julia Sadler and guests included highly-respected chefs.

The staff, who work in the department of hospitality, were then able to donate the £1082.86 they raised to the Noah’s Ark Trust, which helps support bereaved children in the two counties.

Neil Tabram, the college’s programme manager for hospitality, said it was an enjoyable but stressful evening.

“We had a lot of people from this industry come along, including Daren Bale from the Elms and someone from Browns, which was nice to see and good to have their support,” he said.

Stephen Hewitt, head of faculty of creative and hospitality industries, said: “Everyone had an enjoyable evening and it was good for us to get into the kitchen and get cooking.”

The menu included tournedos of hake with a lobster sauce and a pea puree, roast rump and confit shoulder of Welsh lamb with local spring vegetables and potatoes. Stuart Potter, community fund-raiser for the trust, said: “I know that everyone concerned with the evening had a fantastic time, especially those who enjoyed the hospitality of Spires Restaurant.

“Funding from the community is vitally important to Noah’s Ark because it helps us maintain our service free of charge to children and young people in Worcestershire and Herefordshire."
