THESE children have got a more stimulating place to learn and play thanks to a £5,000 grant that has turned a patch of grass into an area full of sights, sounds and smells.

Kiddi Caru Nursery in Malvern spent the money sent from head office on creating a sensory garden complete with a seating area made out of railway sleepers, a crazy paving path, a gazebo, a vegetable patch, a water feature and flower beds full of sweet smelling lavender.

There is also a rockery and mini-beast area that is designed to attract all kinds of creepy crawlies which the children, aged from six weeks to eight years old, will be able to inspect and enjoy.

Deputy nursing manager Jenny Churchill said the sensory garden is already proving to be a more fun way for the children to learn.

“We planted seeds with the children so they’re all looking forward to seeing them grow,” she said. “It’s much more stimulating for them and they get a sense of achievement learning through their play.”

Kiddi Caru Nursery is based on Maple Road, off Sandy Road, on the Enigma Business Park.
