A PARK-and-ride scheme has improved, say customers after council bosses listened to criticism from the public.

The service, run by Worcestershire County Council, is now rated “excellent” by customers after they described it as “very poor” nine months ago.

In a survey of 237 people, passengers rated parking facilities, frequency of service, driver attitude and customer service as “excellent” for the Perdiswell park-and-ride service.

The county council says it has responded to previous criticisms from people using the service in February, who then rated the drivers attitudes and customers service as “very poor”.

Since then, a bus charter has been introduced and intensive driver training carried out.

Paul Smith, council transportation services manager, said: “We are extremely pleased with the survey results. The improvement in performance justifies our investment in the Perdiswell park-and-ride service.”

The W1 service is operated by five Mercedes Benz Citaro buses, which have been picking up passengers since May.

Councillor Derek Prodger, the county council’s transport chief, said: “Improving transport services is a county council priority and these results show we are doing just that for the people of Worcestershire.”
