A DOG that dialled 999 caused quite a commotion for West Mercia Police.
Staff at the police headquarters’s call management centre thought they were dealing with a violent domestic assault or potential murder when operators who took a mystery call at 4.30pm on Monday, April 20.
Operators heard muffled voices, whining sounds and man shouting ‘Come out or else, I'm warning you’ before the line went dead.
When they called the number back they were greeted by a very apologetic woman from Withington in Herefordshire.
It turned out that the family dog had grabbed the house phone and dialled 999 as he chomped on the handset. The raised voices belonged to his owners who were trying to coax the dog out from behind the garden shed.
