VISITORS to an historic tower in Worcestershire will be able to abseil down the attraction at a school fete on Sunday.
People going to Abberley Hall School’s annual fete will be able to go up the inside of the imposing clock tower within the school grounds and down the outside.
The Worcestershire preparatory school, at Great Witley, is offering people the chance to abseil down the 161 feet of the famous tower, which is only open to the public on a few days each year, for £5 on Sunday.
Gill Portsmouth from the school said: “The clock tower is a landmark which can be seen from six counties - we hope visitors will take advantage of the chance to abseil down it - it will be fully supervised but still very exciting.”
As well as the normal fete attractions such as stalls, competitions and refreshments the West Midlands Balloon Club will have a tethered hot air balloon and several hot air balloons will be taking off from the grounds at the end of the event, weather permitting.
All money raised by the annual fete will be donated to local children’s charities Ewe and You, Megan Baker House and the Abberley Foundation charitable trust.
