VISITORS to a school fete will have the chance to abseil down an historic clock tower on Sunday.

Abberley Hall School at Great Witley, near Worcester, is offering people the chance to abseil down its 161ft tower for a £5 fee.

Gill Portsmouth, of the school, said: “The clock tower is a landmark which can be seen from six counties.

“We hope that visitors will take advantage of the chance to abseil down it – it will be fully supervised but still very exciting.”

As well as the normal fete attractions such as stalls, competitions and refreshments, the West Midlands Balloon Club will have a tethered hot air balloon and several hot air balloons will be taking off from the grounds at the end of the event, weather permitting.

All money that is raised from the annual fete will be donated to local children’s charities Ewe and You, Megan Baker House and the Abberley Foundation charitable trust.
