IT was almost a full house at the Comer WI meeting. There were three apologies and two visitors, swelling the numbers at what proved a most entertaining evening.

Viv Jackman, the president, gave a warm welcome to the speaker, Margaret Walker, and all members. She complimented Pam Rose and Dot Banner on their success in completing Race for Life recently.

The records of the May meeting were taken as read and Beryl Lord, secretary, announced the correspondence, including the delegates’ report from NFWI AGM 2009.

The delegate, Florence Reed, from Broadwas with Rushwick WI wrote a very comprehensive report, clearly having enjoyed the experience, saying how proud she felt to have represented us on what had been a memorable occasion.

The speakers topic, Everything Stops for Tea, provided a period of laughter, banter and good humour.

Margaret spoke about everything related to tea. Growing, picking, preparing commercially, teapots and cups and varieties of teas. The list went on but sadly time ran out.

The evening ended with refreshments, the raffle and social time.

New members or visitors are always welcome on Comer WI.

The next meeting will be in St David’s Hall at 7.30pm, Wednesday, July 15.
