OUR June garden meeting was held at the home of Reg Snow and guess what, it was the one wet evening of the week. So his lovely garden was out of bounds.

Nevertheless, it was a happy evening with nearly 40 members, friends and partners present.

Various invitations from other WIs have been received and members were happy to accept. Pat Crook reported on a busy, enjoyable visit to the annual general meeting in London and all were pleased to hear the honey bee resolution was passed with a very large majority.

Several members will be attending the new members evening. Details were given of the proposed heritage weekend in Martley Church in September and members asked to look out old photos and newspaper items.

The competition for the best rose was won jointly by Audrey Trumper and Pauline Mills and the Denman Bursary was won by Kate King.

After the buffet supper supplied by the members, George Coombey- Jones and Harry King conducted the fun auction with some items tastefully modelled by Mike Kipping. More than £100 was raised during the evening for WI funds.

Many thanks to Reg Snow for his hospitality.
