AIR cadets from Droitwich are celebrating after picking up a series of prestigious trophies.

Droitwich air cadets competed against other squadrons from across Worcestershire and other parts of the West Midlands in a competition held at RAF Cosford.

The trophies they won included the drill competition which they have now prevailed in for the fourth year in a row. Accolades for the smartest squadron, community trophy and efficiency trophy were also picked up.

They also won the Worcestershhire aircrew trophy for being the best squadron in the county. Because of that success the squadron has now been chosen to represent the West Mercian wing in the Lees Trophy which is awarded to the best squadron in the Wales and West region.

Meanwhile, flying officer Simon Smith received a certificate for being an assessor for the Duke of Edinburgh Award for 10 years.

Cadet flight sergeant Knight was presented with a good service award for her committment to the air cadets.

Anyone aged between 13 and 18 who is interested in joining Droitwich air cadets should call Paul Wilde on 07912 341757.
