A STOLEN 4x4 was used to take a caravan in rural Worcestershire over the weekend.

Police in Ledbury are linking the theft of a Toyota pickup and the caravan in two separate thefts.

Between 9.30pm on Sunday, June 28, and 6am on Monday, June 29, 2009 the locked Toyota Hilux 4x4 - registration number C606RPA, was broken into.

Thieves somehow managed to start the vehicle and drive it away from the address in Little Marcle, near Ledbury.

A short while later, police believe the thieves approached a caravan park in nearby Little Tarrington and forced open the wooden gates. A cream-coloured Stirling Eccles Topaz 2-berth touring caravan was then hitched onto the back of the Toyota and driven off.

Though no one saw the 4x4 used in the theft, police found contents from the stolen Toyota dumped at the roadside near the caravan theft and are satisfied it was the vehicle used to take the caravan.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the Little Marcle/Little Tarrington areas in the early hours on Monday morning or from anyone who may know the current whereabouts of the Toyota and the caravan.
