YOUNG riders are being warned to ride bikes and scooters responsibily or face having them crushed.

PC Rich Foxall, Nunnery ward’s local policing officer said: “We take the issue extremely seriously as dangerous and illegal behaviour on such vehicles can result in serious injury or worse and a considerable amount of distress for local residents.”

PC Foxall ordered for a moped being ridden anti-socially around Medway Road, Ronkswood, on Monday, June 8, to be crushed. The rider fled from the vehicle and enquiries are ongoing. A mini moto being ridden around the Peterborough Close area, Ronkswood, on Wednesday, June 24, was also crushed. The rider is currently being dealt with.

A 16-year-old boy has also been summoned to court for careless riding, riding on a footpath off Prestbury Close, Warndon, and driving not in accordance with a licence. Another was summoned to court for riding on a footpath off Bath Road. Riding vehicles on land without permission, on public footpaths or roads is illegal. Those who have their bikes seized must pay £105 and a storage fee. If they don’t do so in 14 days the vehicles could be crushed. To report bikers, call police on 0300 333 3000.
