A GROUP of dedicated fund-raisers are straining every sinew for charity.

The Richards-Saints have kicked off their 24-hour car push at the Upton-upon-Severn Rugby Club this evening.

The aim will be to push their specially-prepared pink Volkswagen car for 100 miles in total in a bid to raise vital cash for St Richard’s Hopsice.

Last year, the team of volunteers managed to reach 92.5 miles in an exhausting 24 hours and are hoping incentives such as stripping naked during the hours of darkness will encourage supporters to part with their pounds and lend a hand.

The big push which started at 5pm is open to supporters and well-wishers willing to cheer on the big-hearted saints or take on the car for an hour or two themselves.

Following the effort, legs permitting, there will be a post-push party at The King’s Head pub in Upton complete with live entertainment from pm.

There will be live music from Smashed Alice followed by Woody and the Stuntcocks.

Anyone is welcome to come along and push, drive, cheer, point and laugh and join in the general lunacy of the event.
