A FOOTBALL coach has been rewarded for his work with a team in Worcester.

The Worcestershire Football Association (WFA) has given the Football Workforce award to Worcester City Council’s football development officer Jon Wilson.

Mr Wilson works with Oldbury Park Tigers and the award was presented to him at the WFA Charter Standard Football Festival held at the King George V playing fields, Brickfields.

He was nominated by the parents and players of Oldbury Park Tigers in St John’s, who he coaches on Sundays.

Mr Wilson, who promotes football across Worcester on a full-time basis and also supports the WFA at its development centre in Pershore, said: “It was quite a shock to receive this award; to be nominated for something you enjoy doing feels very strange. It is I who should be thanking the team and club, as without their support I would not have made the move into football development as a career.

“Oldbury Park Tigers is a great club to be involved with, and gives me a fantastic model of how a club should be run, having been named as the WFA Charter Development Club of the Year for the second year running.”
