THE search is on for a new standard bearer at the Evesham branch of the Royal British Legion. Jodie Millward previously held the role for two years until she joined the RAF this year.
Jeff King, branch chairman, said he had at first been doubtful if a 16-year-old could take on such a responsibility. He said: “Although she had carried the standard for Pershore 233 Squadron Air Cadets, Jodie had received little training. She carried our standard for the first time at the Bengeworth Parade in 2007 and after just a few minutes, I was proud to march behind her.”
Volunteers need not have any experience as training will be given, but they must be committed. Anyone interested in becoming standard bearer should call Mr King on 01386 443923.
