APPLE phones and computers will be sold in Worcester when a new store opens in the city centre.

AT Computers is opening a brand new Apple premium reseller store in Broad Street next month.

This addition to Worcester’s shopping scene comes at a time when CrownGate Shopping Centre has just finished undergoing a £5 million refurbishment, as reported in yesterday’s Worcester News.

Jim Yates, head of development at the Crown Estate, which owns CrownGate, said: “AT Computers’ desire to move into the city at this time is testament to the draw of Worcester for retailers.

“The Crown Estate’s investment in the city is part of a long-term plan to enhance the shopping experience in Worcester and we are already seeing strong results in the type of retail brands that we are attracting such as Gerry Weber, Boston Tea Party and now, Apple.”

AT Computers already has six outlets trading successfully across the country and a poster in the front window of the old Cardfair shop in Broad Street says the new Worcester store will cater “for all your iPod and Apple Mac solutions”.

It also states that the company is recruiting full and part-time staff, although how many jobs the new store will create is not yet known.

A spokesman for AT Computers said more details on the opening would be released in the near future.
