SHUFFLING, shambling zombies will be walking Worcester’s streets for a good cause.

The Worcester Zombie Walk is returning to build on the success of last year’s event when 101 people wandered the city centre to raise cash for good causes.

Organisers and horror fan Andy and Tracey Monaghan are once again leading one of the city’s more memorable fund-raising events, which this year is supporting The National Association of Bikers with a Disability and the ME Association.

From noon on Sunday, the procession of zombies will leave the starting point outside the Videodrome store in Broad Street before heading for Bank Street, then into Church Street, along The Shambles around to Pump Street and into High Street before shuffling back into Broad Street.

Licensed collectors will be accompanying the zombies.

Event-goers must be made up to look like a zombie – they can pay £3 at the make-up stand outside Videodrome from 11am.

Mrs Monaghan, who suffers from ME – widely known as chronic fatigue syndrome – said it was all a bit of fun.

“Last year we had so many people come and we’re hoping for more this year,” she said.

Taking part is free, but zombies can pay £3 to go to the after-event at Marrs Bar, in Pierpoint Street, starting at 2pm. Tickets are available from Videodrome.

There will be two horror films shown, with a finger buffet in the interval. Live music follows at 8pm.

Tickets give punters 20 per cent off food in the Postal Order pub.
