SCHOOLCHILDREN in Worcestershire will be learning to stay safe this week.
As part of the National Road Safety Week, Worcestershire County Council has organised a road safety message day.
A series of activities for children across the county has also been organised in partnership with West Mercia Police and local children’s centres to get the safety message across to youngsters.
On Thursday, all pupils at Gorse Hill Primary School in Worcester will receive a talk from a local police constable and the county council’s road safety officers about staying safe when out and about on Worcestershire’s roads.
Safe crossing places, dangers and rules of crossing the road, what distracts pedestrians and the importance of bright clothing will all be discussed throughout the day. All pupils will receive a highvisibility bag, courtesy of Worcestershire County Council.
A number of school crossing patrol vacancies exist in Worcestershire and the county council is looking for people who can spare half an hour in the mornings and/or afternoons.
Successful applicants are given full training and a uniform is provided.
