AT the November annual meeting Patience Broad, our group adviser, and one visitor were welcomed and three members were wished happy birthday.

A card will be sent to Margaret Lloyd-James, a long-term former member, wishing her well after a recent heart attack.

Arrangements were discussed for the December meeting and members reminded of the red and green trading table in aid of Associated Countrywomen of the World. Mary Kipping was awarded the millennium plate for gaining the most points in monthly competitions.

Cakes are needed for the village Christmas fair and suggestions were put forward for the celebration of Christmas concert in church on Saturday, December 5.

Patience organised a short questionnaire, regarding present activities and members wish-list for the future. She explained the change in the resolutions’ procedure for the national annual meeting in 2010 and then announced that Helen Coombey- Jones had been re-elected as the president.

The competition for canapes was won by Jean Hyslop, Mary Kipping and Chris Smith. After devouring these with great enjoyment, our own member Eileen Stammers enthralled us with an account of more than 40 years of being a dental nurse.

What interesting lives our members lead.
