JEDWARD, the twins from ITV’s The X Factor, have taken Worcester by storm.

Eighteen-year-old singing sensations John and Edward Grimes were given a thunderous reception by thrilled revellers at city nightclub Tramps on Monday night.

More than 1,000 cheering fans squeezed into the Angel Place venue to hear songs taken from the pair’s best performances on the talent show.

The brothers sang Robbie Williams’ Rock DJ and the Vanilla Ice version of Queen’s Under Pressure but the biggest cheer of the night was reserved for their finale – the Ghostbusters theme tune.

Speaking to your Worcester News about the reaction, John said: “It’s really cool.”

Edward said: “It was quite difficult to dance on the stage but it was mad.”

After the brief 10-minute set, the brothers kissed and hugged 130 fans who had bought VIP tickets, signed autographs and posed for photographs.

One fan who met them was Sarah Adams, aged 18, from Upton-upon-Severn, who was wearing an ‘I love Jedward’ T-shirt.

She said: “I love them so much. They are amazing.

“They said they loved my T-shirt and they wanted more time with everyone.”

The twins shot to stardom after a series of fun, high-energy routines on the hit TV show.

Throughout their time on the programme, opinion on the pair has been divided between those who say they are good, those who say they are bad – and those who say they are so bad, they are good. Since leaving the show, there has been talk they could pocket up to £2 million from marketing the Jedward brand.

However, at Monday’s gig, they were just two excited teenagers when we showed them our front page report from last month announcing their arrival in the city.

Edward eagerly grabbed a copy of the paper and started reading it before asking if he could keep it as a souvenir.

Wearing trademark skinny jeans and trainers and sporting sky-high blond quiffs, the pair admired your Worcester News reporters’ own quiffs – styled especially for the occasion – with John branding them “really nice”. Edward even asked for a kiss.

Among those who queued to meet them were Adam Caines, 23, Rachel Hipgrave, 20, Kellie Fry, 19, and Nicole Carroll, 21, from Droitwich.

Nicole said: “Since they’ve been out, we’ve been counting down the days.”

Some revellers decided to add their own fun factor to the event, including two dressed in Ghostbusters outfits, complete with name badges.

And Jonathan Kennedy, 21, from Redditch, brought along a pineapple as a homage to a stunt seen on the programme, when singer Calvin Harris invaded the stage.

Sadly, he was not able to meet his heroes after Jedward’s burly minders threw him out when they spotted his pineapple.
