SHOPPERS in Worcester can take the stress out of travelling in traffic or finding a parking space in the city this Christmas by taking advantage of park and ride.

Starting this weekend, Saturday shoppers will be able to park their cars and jump on a bus for a quick and cheap way into town.

Buses will run regularly from Perdiswell, Sixways - both open between 7am and 7pm - and County Hall - open between 8.30am and 6.30pm - to the city centre every Saturday until Saturday, December 19.

The usual range of tickets will be available. The best for value is the group ticket which costs £3.50 for the car driver and up to six passengers.

Councillor Derek Prodger, Worcestershire County Council's cabinet member for transport and the safe environment, said: “The park and ride services available offer great value for money, great service and the opportunity to spend more time enjoying your time in Worcester, making the most of your day.”

Anyone wanting to try out the new Sixways services can take advantage of a free voucher, available to download from worcestershire.gov.uk/parkandride
