A DRINK driver who killed a clergyman just two hours before his 64th birthday was today sentenced to six years' behind bars.
Christopher Michael Badgery, aged 24, of Pudford Lane, Martley, was driving a high-powered Mitsubishi Evo - carrying four females - when it smashed into Rev Ian Scott’s stationary Vauxhall Astra on the A4103 on July 18 last year.
Mr Scott, the 63-year-old chaplain at Evesham Community Hospital, was pronounced dead at the scene, but his wife Sue was taken by ambulance to the accident and emergency department of Worcestershire Royal Hospital with serious injuries.
Badgery and his passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were all discharged after treatment.
In Worcester Crown Court on February 22, Badgery pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and drink-driving. He was locked up today.
