MORE than 1,800 men have applied for one of Britain’s most bizarre jobs – helping a Worcestershire mum who looks like Jessica Rabbit carry her giant bunny.

As previously reported in your Worcester News, Annette Edwards, who lives in Stoulton, near Pershore, is currently looking for a male handler to carry around her pet rabbit – a 4ft-long bunny called Alice – and travel with her as she attends events across the globe.

The 57-year-old mum-of-10 claims that the job could pay up to £70,000 a year.

An X-Factor-style audition is being held at Wookey Hole Caves in Wells, Somerset, on Thursday, April 1 and more than 1,800 men have already applied.

“We were expecting about 100,” said Ms Edwards.

“It’s brilliant. Because there are so many entrants we’re going to hold the auditions in a slightly different way.

“I was hoping to choose someone on the day, but that’s not possible with so many people – we’ll bring back the best 20.”

Ms Edwards first found fame as a breeder of the world’s largest rabbit.

After numerous spots on national television the Guinness World Record holder hit the headlines again, this time for spending £10,000 on surgery and a strict diet so that she could resemble the Who Framed Roger Rabbit character Jessica Rabbit.

The skin-tight Jessica Rabbit costume means that Ms Edwards struggles to carry Alice when she travels to events – which is why she is seeking a handler.

Auditions will be held in front of four judges, with each animal-loving applicant, who must be male and aged 25 and over, given a minute to impress.

Among the panel deciding who gets the job are Jeff Kay, a professional photographer, a David Beckham lookalike, tanning expert Dee Bronze and Ms Edwards herself.
