ALL the opera you never knew you knew is set to reintroduce itself in Pershore next week.

Hatstand Opera is a touring company which gives audiences 'a fun, easy way into opera' and next Friday, it comes to the new Number 8 arts centre.

Hatstand comprises three professional opera singers and a pianist who recreate some of the best and craziest moments in opera.

Listen out for that airline advert, that football song, that detective's song - all the favourites are due a hearing and even novice listeners will recognise excerpts from Puccini, Mozart, Rossini and more.

Called Golden Moments, the show is packed with humour as the cast, led by Kirsty Young, transform into all kinds of characters from hilarious hairdressers, to conniving cousins to ugly sisters.

The event comes to Pershore as part of the Shindig Worcestershire community arts project which brings professional shows to small rural venues.

It comes to Pershore on Friday, February 4, at 7.30pm (box office: 01386 550488) and later heads for Kingsley College Theatre in Redditch, on March 4 (01527 830728) and The Norbury Theatre, Droitwich, on March 5 (01905 770154).

A new exhibition takes over at the Number 8 Gallery today. Michael Kearsey is set to move in with his show entitled Moods of Nature. He is a contemporary oil painter who is focusing upon clouds and sea.. The exhibition is open until February 15.
