HEAVY folk-rock act Bluehorses will be bringing their fusion of Celtic themes, classic rock improvisations and thoughtful, witty lyrics to Worcester this weekend.

The group - who have shared stages with bands as diverse as Hawkwind, Levellers and Oysterband - will be playing at the city's Marr's Bar tomorrow night.

And they will be hoping for a similar performance to their string of shows across Europe which have left audiences enraptured.

Tickets are £6 in advance or £8 on the door.

Style is just no object for Phil

MULTI-talented singer, songwriter and guitarist Phil Bates is set to grace the stage at Worcester's Marr's Bar this weekend.

Phil has released a four albums and his live solo concerts cover a wide range of styles ranging through blues, folk, celtic, jazz, pop, rock and a touch of world-influenced music.

Alongside his own songs, he features his own unique arrangements of the material from some of the 20th Century's finest artists, including Stevie Wonder, John Lennon and Paul McCartney and Jimi Hendrix.

He has worked with a whole host of major artists across the world as a guitarist, singer, songwriter, live musician, producer and sound engineer.

New Coldplay CD due out

EVERYBODY'S favourite bandTM (well, nearly everybody's) have come a long way since their 2000 debut Parachutes.

Having since released a second hugely-successful album and spawned a mass of sound-a-likes it is with this huge expectation that they return with Speed of Sound.

Sounding uncannily like Rush of Blood to the Head single Clocks, their first single from the long-awaited X&Y is bound to divide fans and critics alike, modifying rather than reinventing the wheel. Speed of Sound is out on Monday.

Bomb to go off at Marr's

A TALENTED musician who began playing the guitar at the age of 14 and has since has associations with the likes of Guns N Roses and Led Zeppelin is set to come to Worcester.

Adam Bomb will be playing at the city's Marr's Bar on Tuesday, May 24. Tickets are £5 in advance or £8 on the door.
