TWO hundred and fifty singers will be gathering in Worcester Cathedral for a spectacular concert next month.
For the fourth year running, the Midland Festival Chorus will be performing its annual concert in the stunning setting of the ancient cathedral on October 8.
Singers will be coming from all over to join in with the impressive event - from all over Britain, as well as Guernsey, France and as far away as Australia.
They will be performing Haydn's Die Schpfung - The Creation - with The 18th Century Concert Orchestra and three soloists: soprano Rebecca Outram, tenor Richard Edgar-Wilson and bass Adrian Powter.
Malcolm Goldring, founder and musical director of The Midland Festival Chorus is conducting the event.
"I'm looking forward to this performance immensely," he said, adding that The Creation will be sung in its original German form.
"Despite the size of the chorus, we will lift the cathedral's roof with dancing rhythms and light textures, together with a period orchestra whose very instruments will encourage and inspire us."
He added that a rare fortepiano will be used instead of the usual organ or harpsichord.
