ROYAL BRITISH LEGION: At the September meeting of the women's section members enjoyed a harvest supper prepared and served by the committee.

This was followed by an auction of produce including jams and marmalades made by members.The guest for the evening was Canon John Champion who led the prayers and hymns.

Next month is the annual general meeting and voting papers should be returned to Doreen Dale or Wendy Griffiths.New and old members will be welcome at 7.30pm at St Wulstans on October 4.

LADIES' GUILD: After the summer break members were welcomed back by the chairman at the September meeting.

Mrs M James gave a report of a visit to London on July 8, when she attended, with the chairman, a luncheon to support Polly Vacher, who was present as a candidate for the European Woman of the Year title.

Mrs Lockhart welcomed back Tony Moy who showed members the fully restored Skoda. He thanked all who had contributed to the £179.50 raised for Macmillan Cancer Relief and detailed the route to be taken when the cars set off for Prague on September 12. The outings to Witley Court, Bredon Hill and Lenches villages were enjoyed by members. Thanks were expressed to Mrs Meller and Mrs Passmore for hosting strawberry teas and a coffee morning respectively when £220 and £75 had been raised for this year's charity. Tickets are available for the Wine and Cheese evening on September 23 in Wychavon Civic Centre at 7pm. The cost of £5 includes a glass of wine. Paul McGuire will entertain, there will be a raffle and a short performance by the Guilded Lilies.

Transport has been booked to attend a matinee of the Ice Show at Malvern Theatre on November 30. Tickets are £20.

A new member, Mrs M Wood, was welcomed to the Guild. An unsatisfactory reply had been received from Wychavon District Council regarding the Guild's complaint that OAPs had to pay for garden waste bags. A further letter will be sent. The Literary Appreciation Group will meet on October 3.

Mrs A Hugman gave a talk about osteoporosis. Mrs Rubbra gave the vote of thanks.

The sales table raised £22.45.

The next meeting will be held on October 4 in Wulstan Hall at 2pm. Keith Robinson will give a talk on Well Dressing. The sales table will be fruit and vegetables.
