This performance of Robert Bolt's A Man For All Seasons proved to be an excellent production, outstandingly led by Martin Shaw (famously known for his portrayal of Judge John Deed), as Sir Thomas More, a man of high moral standards both religious and personal.

When Henry V111's first wife Catherine of Aragon is unable to produce an heir to the throne, the King seeks the support of Sir Thomas in approving a divorce enabling him to marry Anne Boleyn.

The moral dilemma More is faced with inevitably results in his certain death.

The production hosted an excellent cast, with Alison Fiske playing More's wife Lady Alice and Sophie Shaw playing his daughters Lady Margaret, Daniel Flynn as King Henry and Brian Poyser as Cardinal Wolsey.

Special mention must also go to Tony Bell who injected witty humour in his role as The Common Man/Narrator. The spectacular setting and lighting gave this excellent production the ideal atmosphere. A highly recommended visit if you are able to get tickets, the play runs at Malevrn Festival Theatre until Saturday.
