How disappointing to see such a misleading feature on your front page.
Staff, governors and parents alike are justifiably pleased with the recent Ofsted report for Eckington CoE First School.
Of the 26 categories individually assessed by the inspectors, we scored a 1 (outstanding) or a 2 (good) in all but 2 of them (which were rated as 'satisfactory').
Having read the reports for other local schools on the Ofsted website, I can assure you, it doesn't get much better than that.
Yet you report that the school is failing to meet targets and was rated as 'satisfactory'. This actually only refers to 'unauthorised absences' - many other schools are not even accurately reporting on this yet.
In fact, the school's overall rating was 'good' and standards above average.
Ofsted praised our impressive curriculum and extra activities.
Teaching is good, the school is well led, behaviour is 'exemplary' and children have a positive attitude towards learning.
Talking to other parents from round about convinces me that my three children are lucky to fall within its catchment area.
What a shame then, that your report blew one small aspect of performance out of all proportion and created such a biased report.
