A VALE pub and music store have joined forces to support local musicians and give them the platform to play to live audiences.

Bretforton's Fleece Inn and Vine Music in Evesham have arranged a number of Acoustic Sundays to allow breakthrough acts the chance to show off their untapped talent.

Both the Fleece and Vine Music have long supported local music and the events planned will take place on the second Sunday of every month, with the new bands supporting more established acts on most occasions.

Landlord Nigel Smith said: "Working with local and national artists over the last few years I realised the great potential for live music that there is in the Vale.

"I therefore feel it's time to focus on supporting local acts by creating a regular event for them to perform. While all good live music is well received, it's great to be able to offer people the chance to see local talent."

Two dates have already been booked for the Acoustic Sundays and the first is taking place on Sunday, May 7 with Bretforton band Ex Incendia supporting Kieran Halpin.

The other date already confirmed is Sunday, June 11 where Vale guitarist Louisa Hall will be supporting The Dublin Jacks.

Vine Music owner Mike Flanders said: "We're proud to support the Fleece for what is an exciting venture. This is a great opportunity to develop local live music and give musicians the chance to work with and learn from respected established artists.

"The Fleece at Bretforton is a marvellous local venue and Nigel and his team will ensure that Acoustic Sundays will be a resounding success."

Local acoustic based acts that are interested in taking part are invited to contact Nigel Smith on 01386 831173 or nigel@thefleeceinn.co.uk and provide a demo CD.
