STEEL bedsteads, an Electrolux cylinder vacuum cleaner, some wire-handled paint tins and even a stone kitchen sink are all items desperately needed by a city theatre group.

The Swan Theatre Amateur Company need the props to create a 1960s look for the set of its latest production, The Caretaker.

The group is struggling to find the items and are appealing for help because they are all now obsolete.

Spokesman for the company, Chris Barltrop said: "We are really stuck for these important items and would be really grateful for any help that is offered.

"The play was originally produced about 1960 when it would have been easy to lay your hands on such items but we are struggling to find certain items that are really needed to get that seedy 1960s look."

The props will be used to create the world of The Caretaker for the group's interpretation of the Harold Pinter play.

It deals with the, sometimes violent, power struggle between the character Davies and brothers Aston and Mick.

The Caretaker will run at the Swan Theatre from Tuesday, April 18, to Saturday, April 22.

Anyone who can help with any of the props should call Frank Welbourne on 01905 453288.
