Without doubt, that early promise is being realised. Ilya has a fine technique and delivers beautiful tones from his magnificent Stradivarius. Ashley is an accurate pianist who gives plenty of care and attention to the score, combined with his formidable command of keyboard language

For Szymanowski's Mythes: Trois Poemes, Op.30, 'impressionist' in style, Ilya soared, often muted, and made jumps of unnatural intervals with unerring intonation.

Ashley partnered with speedy runs and considerable dramatic expression.

Mozart's Sonata in A, K.526 came as a welcome melodious pleasure.

Ilya and Ashley, meticulous to detail, turned in a reading of refinement and exquisite beauty.

Finally, Sonata in E minor by Elgar, a most difficult work for performers to play to a Malvern audience, when every note is familiar. A satisfactory account was given and much of Elgar's lyricism was present. However, many moments of eloquence were not allowed enough space and passion was kept under wraps.
