The Audley Chapel, at Hereford Cathedral, built around 1500, has recently undergone extensive work to conserve its Tudor paintwork, one of the finest examples of its type anywhere in the country. Part of the project, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and a number of other trusts, includes a series of workshops looking at pilgrimage and the Tudors.

Schools from around the county have been taking the opportunity to visit the cathedral and to take part in one or the other of the exciting programmes of work.

Many of those involved in the project came together with the High Sheriff of Herefordshire,

Lt General Sir John Foley, for a special service to celebrate the work.

1. The special Evensong was sung by the choir of Holy Trinity, under the direction of Shaun Ward.

2. High Sheriff, Sir John Foley, joined the congregation and is seen here following the service with Julian Gallimore and Jill Gallimore, a member of Herefordshire Historic Churches Trust, one of the funders of the project.

3. Those who had supported the project were invited to afternoon tea in the Deanery garden prior to the service. Lynn, Diana and Emily waiting to serve some of their delicious cakes!

4. The Dean of Hereford, the Very Revd Michael Tavinor, with (from left) the former cathedral architect Michael Reardon, current cathedral architect Robert Kilgour and regional chair of the Heritage Lottery Fund Katie Foster.

5. The Dean of Hereford, the Very Revd Michael Tavinor, presents the trophy at the annual chorister cricket match, which was won by Decani - the choristers who sit on the Dean's side of the choir stalls.
