HUNDREDS of soap fans across Worcester have been queuing up for tickets to see Hollyoaks and Corrie stars battle it out at St George's Lane football pitch in aid of charity.Nearly 1,000 tickets have already been sold for the Leukaemia CARE event on Sunday, April 9.

For those buying their tickets in advance, there are two competitions that could see local people meeting up with their heroes from the two soaps.

Wyvern FM is running competitions for under-18s to be team mascots on the day while over-18s can win a VIP Night Out with the soap star teams on Saturday, April 8.

The winners will be collected in a limo and taken to SIN, a new bar opening in New Street, where they will party the night away with the casts from the soaps in the VIP area and get entry to Bushwackers when SIN closes.

Masterminding the event is Leukaemia CARE's fund-raising manager Louise Carlin.Louise said: "Things are hotting up! We're seeing interest in the game from a wide area - and ticket sales reflect this with some people travelling a fair old distance to see their heroes.

"We have to remind everyone that who actually plays on the day will depend on the shooting schedules for each of the soaps.

"These days, they are shooting almost every day - so we can't be sure who will play but we know they will make every effort to get the stars down here and it will be a cracking game.

"We're really hoping to see St George's Lane heaving on the day of the match."

Leukaemia CARE is advising people to buy their tickets in advance so as not to be disappointed but you will be able to buy tickets on the day.

Gates open at the ground at noon and the match kicks off at 2pm. Tickets are on sale now and are available from the Leukaemia CARE ticket hotline on 0870 774 3667 or alternatively by visiting the website www.run4leukaemia.org.uk via a secure online form.

Tickets are also available from Worcester City Football Club, Bushwackers, Keystones, Sun on the Run in the Tything, Perdiswell Leisure Centre and Spatronic in Droitwich.
