A spring clean for Worcester has been officially launched by the
city's mayor.
Councillor Aubrey Tarbuck was on hand to pick up litter at the launch of Rubbish? Sort it! campaign in St Andrew's Garden.
Cecil Duckworth, chairman of the Duckworth Worcestershire Trust, was also at the event, which runs right up to Saturday, May 6.
The major clear-up campaign, run by the trust, the city and county councils and British Waterways, is now in its sixth year.
Coun Tarbuck said: "It is good to see the campaign really getting under way. I've always said going to the schools and colleges is the way to tackle litter and it is wonderful to see it is such a success."
The campaign encourages people to recycle their waste and raise awareness of litter issues.
About 15 students from Worcester College of Technology joined the mayor in a litter-pick that collected about 7kg (15.4lbs) of rubbish.
Events taking place include more than 29 litter picks and a two-week canal clear up.
