A MUSIC lover who got into DJing after having a go on her son's decks - and went on to win a regional competition - is turning her talents to raising much needed cash for multiple sclerosis suffers.

Thirty-five-year-old Talia Kepinska shot to DJ stardom on the local clubbing circuit after winning a competition run by the Worcester News back in 2003.

Her prize was a place on a 10-week course run by DJ Kingdom in Worcester, learning the tricks of the trade from some of the masters in the business.

Now the Tolladine Road mum, who has since been entertaining the masses at a wealth of clubs, has mixed a dance CD to raise cash for the Red Hill Court Nursing Home in Worcester's London Road, where she worked as an activities co-ordinator.

The centre is home to 10 people, most of whom suffer from multiple sclerosis.

Talia came up with the idea for the CD, which she describes as a mix of chart-friendly funky house music, earlier this year.

And she has managed to secure funding for the venture from DJ Kingdom by way of sponsorship.

Talia, who played a two-week set at Papa's Bar in Hurghada, Egypt last year, said: "I think it's superb and came together really well."

Talia first got into DJing about three years ago after buying her son Daniel, now 17, some decks as a present.

After he didn't really take to the hobby she decided to try her hand. Only last month she played to a crowd of 5,000 at The Sanctuary in Birmingham and is set to play Evolution in Lowesmoor on Friday, April 28.

She said: "I really love DJing and just got into it because I'm a bit of a clubber and have done a bit of podium dancing before. I was getting a bit old for that and thought I needed to do something else.

"If I hadn't won the competition with the Worcester News, though, then I don't think I'd have got as far as I have done."

The CD is priced £5 and available from the nursing home or by calling Talia on 07914 384163. joby mullens
