MALVERN CC Sunday XI travelled to Worcester to play Dominies and Guild in a 40-over friendly match.

DOMINIES & GUILD v MALVERN

Dominies had no hesitation in putting Malvern in to bat, this seemed to pay off as Malvern found hard going, they only managed to score 26 from the first 10 overs, however both opening batsmen having seen off the opening bowlers soon began to increase the run rate.

Andy Cullen (102) playing a magnificent role supported by a quick- fire 52 from Ray Evans, including three big sixes, enabled Malvern to reach a creditable score of 222.

Domines batting began the same way as Malvern with both Chris Francis and Steve Whittaker bowling a very tight spell which kept Dominies to a score of just 35 from the first 12 overs.

Domines set about the bowling change with great effect, top scorer Miles (97no) hitting the ball to all areas of the ground was supported by the middle order, even with wickets falling at regular intervals to the bowling of Cox (3-34)

Dominies' batting continued to be aggressive, number nine batsmen Tredinick (45no) supported Miles in completing the required score which at one point was 120 from the last 10 overs.

Malvern captain Croft brought on opener Francis for the last over but could not save the game as two sixes saw Dominies win with the last ball of the game.

On Sunday, Malvern entertain Cannon Frome at Regency Road.
