MY husband and I are extremely concerned at the prospect of ward closures at Evesham Community Hospital, and, as these things can be so often the thin end of the wedge, at the closure of the hospital itself.

With population of Evesham growing as it is, it seems to us to be the height of folly to close the facilities of such an excellent, clean, caring hospital (and one where it is possible to park ones car when one visits).

We have had connections with the hospital for many years and have always considered that Evesham and the surrounding area are very fortunate to have such a wonderful hospital.

It can only be imagined how much extra traffic would have to use the Evesham to Worcester road if Evesham hospital or parts of it were closed. All those patients and their visitors too, would have to pay enormous sums in road charges if the proposed legislation came into force (as it seems, in all probability, it will).

It seems to me that one government department tells us that we really must stop using out motor vehicles so much if we want to prevent the gasses which cause global warming. Apropos of this (presumably) another government department tells us that it plans to make using our roads ever more expensive.

Yet another government department tells us that we are likely to lose part (or all) of our Evesham hospital, and as a result hundreds of extra cars every week will have to drive between Evesham and area, and the Worcester hospital.

It's about time the various government departments liaised with each other and used a bit of common sense!
