A 78-year-old Cookley man has died following a car accident which has left his wife with serious leg, arm, back and head injuries.

Barry Nock died in Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley, in the early hours of Saturday, after the VW Santana he was driving was in collision with a Peugeot 306 at the junction of New Road and Worcester Street in Stourbridge.

He was taken to hospital following the accident, which happened at around 1.40pm on Wednesday last week, with multiple chest injuries but died three days later.

His wife, 76-year-old Beryl Nock, was a passenger in the car and had to be cut free by firefighters after becoming trapped under the dashboard.

Firefighters also spent more than 30 minutes cutting free the 48-year-old driver of the Peugeot, who was taken to Russell's Hall Hospital suffering from head injuries.

Stourbridge fire brigade sub-officer Nick Lacey said it had been "a serious accident".
