MUSIC lovers have the chance to hear the world famous King's Singers when they come to the area next week.

The King's Singers is a group which was formed more than 30 years ago by six choral scholars from King's College, Cambridge.

The members' 'charm, wit and incomparable musicianship' has been delighting audiences in Britain and all over the world since.

And now they are coming to the picturesque setting of Tewkesbury Abbey on Monday, June 20, as part of a Concerts in Churches series of events.

Spokeswoman Claire Graves said of the group: "Above all, it is their simple enjoyment of what they do that has captured the imagination of the public all over the world and kept the King's Singers at the top of their game for three and a half decades.

"Their programme offers something for everyone: their music appeals to diverse tastes and ranges from medieval to renaissance, romantic to contemporary, through to folk and pop."

The Concerts in Churches series was launched last year and aims to offer 'a more intimate concert experience'. Its events also include a chance to meet the performers and at Tewkesbury, the singers will also be pleased to talk to their audience. Tickets are £9 to £25 and are available by calling 01449 738829, by visiting www.concertinchurches.com, or from Tewkesbury Tourist Information Centre at 64 Barton Street, Tewkesbury.
