AN Evesham mother is appealing to Vale people to show more understanding towards disabled badge holders.

Wendy Allen has a five-year-old daughter, Adele, who suffers from epilepsy and blackouts. Also, following a stroke when she was two the youngster has lost full working use of the left hand side of her body, effecting her sight, and she has trouble walking for a sustained periods. Because of the disabilities, Mrs Allen has a disabled badge on her car.

However, she's had to suffer years of extra stress from people who believe she has no right parking is a disabled bay.

Mrs Allen is now at the end of her tether. She said: "I have kept this to myself for a while now and I can't take it anymore, something has to be done. I have the same trouble wherever I park in Evesham, I think people just see a woman getting out of the car with her daughter and because Adele's disability is not obvious, we suffer from this prejudice."

The final straw came last Monday, when Mrs Allen picked Adele and they went on to Tesco supermarket in Evesham to pick up some Calpol and parked in a disabled bay, but before they could get out of the car a security guard was rushing over telling her she could not park there.

Wendy added: "If people just took a little more time to think over the situation and look at the badge, this trouble could be avoided." Adele, who attends Hampton First School, is having an operation soon to see if she needs to wear a cast on her leg because of her condition and Wendy thinks that unfortunately this fact may be the only way to stop the problem.

Press officer for Tesco Stores, Katie Jenkins said: "We made a genuine mistake in this instances and are very sorry for the distress that this caused Mrs Allen and Adele."
