A FIRE engine specialist has released its first vehicle since coming under new ownership.

Carmichael, of Weir Lane, was acquired by Amdac (UK) Limited, a British subsidiary of Pesaka Astana of Malaysia, earlier this year.

The merger paved the way to export to more than 80 counties and means Admac-Carmichael, as it is called, is now considered a major player in the heavy duty and special purpose vehicle sector in the Far East.

The company, which employs more than 100 people, specialises in the design and manufacture of fire and rescue vehicles for airports, oil refineries and fire services.

It is now in the process of completing a contract for six vehicles to be used by Namibia Airports Authority

"Our connections in Malaysia are now fully in place, securing Amdac-Carmichael's access to valuable new business in the Far East, the Middle East and in Australia," said chief executive officer, Nigel Maris.

"The future for Amdac-Carmichael is looking extremely exciting with a healthy order book and new enquiries arriving daily."
