THIS weekend's Parkland Audi Syde Park Horse Trials has attracted a bumper entry of over 600 horse and rider combinations from 11 countries competing in classes for pre-novice, novice and intermediate horses.

Heading the entry is British Olympic Gold medallist Leslie Law riding Shear H20.

The classes include qualifying rounds for a number of important championships including the Derby House novice owner rider and Patey Hats pre-novice series.

Possibly the keenest competition will be in the regional final of the EHOA/Martin Collins British Eventing novice championship where local riders will attempt to qualify for the Final which takes place at the prestigious Festival of British Eventing in early August at nearby Gatcombe Park.

All classes will compete on a cross-country course designed by Mike Etherington-Smith who designed the course at Blenheim, home of this years European Championships.

There will be a dedicated viewing car park for all Audi owners with a reduced admission fee of £3 and a free programme.

Starting at 9am on Saturday and Sunday, the event feature the dressage, show jumping and cro-ss-country phases running throughout both days.

The event has attracted many well-known international riders and there will a number of interesting shops in the trade stand area as well as full catering facilities.

Syde Park is situated between Cheltenham and Cirencester and will be signposted from Birdlip.
