VISITORS to Croome Park can roam among the aromas at a Scented Flower Walk on Saturday morning.

The guided walk will take visitors around the landscaped park, through the shrubberies and to the Pleasure Grounds, taking in the scents of lavender, mock orange, lilac and roses such as Sweet Briar, Rosa Mundi and Maiden's Blush.

Croome Park property manager Michael Smith said: "During the walk, I will be showing visitors how flower scent has evolved, whether naturally or by plant breeding"

"We have many different types of flowering shrubs and roses, all of which are traditional 18th Century varieties, and visitors will be able to smell the difference between them and the more modern varieties."

The 18th Century park - the first landscape designed by Capability Brown - is in the final stages of a 10-year restoration, during which the National Trust has re-introduced many of the original plant species included in Brown's plans for the park.

The Scented Flower Walk will start at the entrance to the park at 11am.

There will be a small charge of £3 for National Trust members and £5 for non-members (there is a reduced rate for children).
