A TEACHER at St Augustine's High School has proved she is in a class of her own after being named as a finalist in the Regional Teaching Awards 2005.

Religious education teacher Elizabeth Lawless, has been nominated as 'outstanding newcome' by the school's assistant principal, Paul Farr. Mr Farr said her achievements at the Hunt End school during her short time there had been remarkable.

The regional ceremony will be held at the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon, Warwickshire, on June 24 where category winners and finalists to be awarded distinctions and commendations will be announced.

Category winners will be invited to attend the Teaching Awards 2005 national ceremony on October 16 at the Theatre Royal on Drury Lane which will be broadcast on BBC2 the same day.
