AN inquest into the death of a slaughter-man whose skeletal remains were found in Lower Bentley in March was interrupted when his daughter said she had not received counselling.

Worcestershire Coroner Victor Round originally intended to close Friday's inquest on 45-year-old Bromsgrove man Christopher Jones, whose body was found under a bridge off Lower Bentley Lane on March 27.

But he decided to adjourn the inquest after realising Mr Jones' daughter Rebecca had not seen the court's family liaison officer.

Mr Round told the Stourport court that Mr Jones died of a gunshot wound to the head and was identified by dental records.

He said a Smith and Wesson revolver - which Mr Jones would have used at work - was found by his side.

Mr Round told the court Mr Jones had had a series of failed relationships and was 'devastated' by the death of another of his his daughters.

He said he had been missing since May or June last year but sent an 'odd' text message to a girlfriend in the early hours of May 20, saying he was sorry and 'I hope you have a good life.'

The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
