FORMER Worcester Warriors back Duncan Roke has swapped Warriors for Pirates after signing for Penzance and Newlyn today.

Roke, who joined Worcester in summer 2001, was released following their successful first season in the Premiership.

The 30-year-old has opted to step down a level to National One to join Jim McKay's Cornish Pirates, who finished fourth in the table in the last campaign.

Though injuries hampered his progress last season, ex-Leicester and Henley Hawks star Roke is well known to National One supporters for his try-scoring exploits before Worcester's promotion.

Roke, who can play in the centre, on the wing or full-back, scored 80 points in his first season at Sixways and then topped the scoring charts with 26 tries in 2002/03.

He made more than 60 appearances for Henley, scoring 249 league points, including 28 tries.
